Cats and Dog

The other night Greg was out of town.  There happened to be a thunderstorm going on.  Noah and I were sitting on the couch talking and kind of watching TV when Gabriel jumped into Noah's lap.  One stroke down Gabe's back send Noah howling.  Gabe was COVERED in burs!  Noah started combing the cat to get all these burs out.

Then it went dark.

We lost power due to the storm.  I was going to the kitchen window sill to get a flashlight, but thankfully Noah reminded me about the cactus sitting there, too.  I went to the keys where I have a little flashlight attached (purple one!).  I then made it through the house collecting light sources.

We decided to go on to bed, but Noah wanted to sleep with me.  Okay.  But then he wanted Zoey, too.  Okay.  Zoey went under the bed (one of her favorite spots).  Noah decided to sleep on the floor with Zoey.  Cool!  I had the bed to myself, for about 10 mintues.  After we were settled, and asleep, Zoey jumped up on the bed, leaving Noah on the floor for the rest of the night!  Tee Hee.

Zoey didn't let me get much sleep - she kept repositioning and scratching.  Plus, she kept laying a head, or paw on my, or butting up next to me.

Pool Ponderings

The outside pool is now opened at Mountain Park Pool.  I have mixed feelings about that.  I like going getting to the pool at noon so I can be first in with my pass and nap a reclining chair.  I start off the season "cooking" both sides 15 minutes each.   I'll work up to 20 - 30 minutes each side by the end of summer.  I like a little tan, but mostly getting the vitamin D!  I do look better/healthier with a tan.

There are several things I do NOT like about the summer months.  I usually can't park close to the door.  Sometimes I have to park pretty far out.  Also, I can't stand when kids come into my lane.  I usually get kicked and that makes me down right MAD.  Some of the lifeguards are good about keeping the kids out of the lap swimmers lanes, but some are new and "shy" about using the whistle.

Another reason I don't like the summer months is it brings out the immodest people.  I see WHY too much skin.  Yesterday there was a girl that had so much "overflow" from her top, it was bigger than my girls alone!  There are girls/teens loosing thier tops, or falling out of them regular at the water slide and the diving board.

There are also funny things.  The other day there was an older Asian lady I kept seeing and  couldn't figure out what looked so odd.  She got a little closer and I figured it out.  She had her bathing suit on BACKWARDS!  And it was a scoop back.  To not be exposed, she wore her bra.  Bwhaaa haaa haa!  You can only imagine what THAT looked like!

Another irritant yesterday was a Hispanic mom in a bikini top and shorts.  Her toddler needed nursing so she just wiped it out and started nursing there on the bleachers - didn't even try to cover herself.  Humph.  I'm a fuddy duddy, AND painfully modest.   I sure wished a life guard would have approached her about that!

And here I would freak out about an occasional naked lady in the locker room...

Kindle

I have decided I want a kindle.  I'm not sure when I will actually get one, but I now know I want one!  As of the moment, the library does not have any kindle e-books.  According to Amazon, that is going to change sometime soon.  Once the libary has FREE books, I'll rush out and get on.  I also want a green leather case with a light.  Why green?  So I can find it easy!

On another note, Lindsay (Dad' wife) is hurt.  I, nor anyone else in my family, sent her a sympathy card when her brother-in-law died.  I'm planning on sending one to Sandy, her sister, but not Lindsay.  I've never sent sympathy cards to extended family.  I'm sorry Lindsay is hurt, but she is EASILY hurt.

Flies

Right now we have an infestation of the common house fly.  We noticed several upstairs lately.  I started giving Noah 5 extra minutes to get school done for every fly.  One day he got 3 of them within a few minutes.

Yesterday Noah was in the back of the basement and said the liter box needed to be cleaned - there were a lot of flies.  I didn't get the correlation - whatever.  I didn't think much of it.  I thought there may have been a few fruit flies back there.

I then had to go to the back of the basement.  There were flies EVERYWHERE!  I'd guess at least 100.  I opened the door to let the flies OUT.  I was using a broom to try to sweep them off the door and window and OUT the door.  It is gross.  It is diegusting.  I hung fly paper - I'm not sure it will work, but I had to do something!!!

I'm trying to keep the basement door close to reduce the amount of flies upstairs.  Did I say this is disgusting?  I really don't like this problem.  I think I'll Google natural remedies and see if I can find anything helpful.

Greg's Birthday

Today was a bit quieter.  I woke up extra early and got an early start on the day.  Before noon I made kombuch, laundry soap, did 2 loads of laundry, went through several e-mails.  I also went to my in-laws and stayed with mother for a while.  We walked and talked, then ended up over here.  Mother helped get some fried chicken off the bone while I worked on a pot of soup.

At 1:15 I dropped Noah off at the pool then swung around the corner and dropped a load of laundry soap off at the Lilburn Co-op.

THEN I went to Kohl s :)  I really LOVE shopping at Kohl s!  I had a $10 money voucher for an on-line order.  I found some really cute shirts (Tshirt style).  I SO needed some new shirts!

I then headed over to the rhuemotologist for my regular appointment.  I've been having a LOT of pain in my legs.  He thinks I need to exercise more and told me to walk/stroll for 20 minutes a day on soft ground in addition to the water aerobics.  He didn't mention going on the biologicals - whew - dodged that bullet for now.

I then stopped at Kroger, hurried home, finished the soup, wrapped the rest of Greg's presents (Noah did some of them for me).  Before going out to dinner, we dropped the soup, salad and presents off at the in-laws.

Finally we to Outback for dinner.  yum.  Afterwards back to the in-laws for Greg to open up his presents.  I thought Mother needed some distractions - that's why we went.

After presents we all loaded up in my van (Aunt Pauline went too) and headed to Rita's for Itlaian ices.  It was mother's first outing since the surgery.  She looked tired, but I think being out of the house was good for her.

Now here I sit with my contacts sticking.  I must get to bed so I can get up and go at it again tomorrow.  Hopefully tomorrow I'll bet to go the pool!

Just Let Me Know

As if I don't have enough going through my mind...

First thing this morning I ran to the computer to send an email to Ruth Martin trying to schedule end of school year testing for Noah.  I ended the e-mail with "just let me know".  The I checked my e-mails.  Two of them said to ME, "Just let me know".  That means I have two decisions to make.  I don't think I'm capable of making decisions right now - my mind is too cluttered.

Just Another Day

Today has been full, too full.  Right after Noah and I had breakfast, we had a repair man come to fix our refrigerator (it was "peeing" on the floor).

Aunt Pauline called and said she had washed her hair, could I come roll it for her.  Right after I finish her hair, I had a call from my father-in-law saying they were ready for me.  ???  I had no idea what they were ready for, but I went over.

Daddy had to go to the store and I was to stay with Mother (she just had back surgery last week.)  I ended up helping her with a bath, putting up laundry, and rolling her hair.  She had visitors, so I ran home.

Noah and I headed to the pool so I could do my water aerobics.  We hurried home, washed the dog (she rolled in doggie poo or something last night - boy did she stink!), and had a rushed lunch.  I was to be back at the in-laws to mop and stay with Mother while Daddy went to the doctor.

Daddy called right as I was walking out the door - they didn't need me.  A friend was there visiting and would stay with Mother.  Whew!  Time for me to get something done at home!
I threw in a load of laundry, and told Noah we are going to do math.  We homeschool.  We are "done" with our 180 days, but still need to finish up curriculum.  So we started math about 2:00.  I was crashing and burning, so layed down for about 15 minutes.  Noah aborted math and was reading.  I let him go for a little while.

At 4:00, I started pizza for supper.  We have weird diets and alleries - I'll save that for another day's thoughts!   Aunt Pauline comes rushing in the door just having a FIT!  She said she let the little niger girl steal her wallet.  What???  (Sorry, I don't talk like that, but that is what she said.)

She was at Kroger when a nicely dressed black female approached her with a wallet full of money asking if it was hers.  Aunt Pauline then took the girl to Walgreen, then to RBBC bank.  The girl wanted her to go in the bank and get money so they could split what she found (yes I know this makes no sense).  Aunt P realized it she wasn't honest, but proceeded to take her back to Walgreen.  BUT, during the ride, the girl "dropped" her cell phone in the back seat and managed to snatch Aunt P's wallet from her purse.

The good news is Aunt P had just taken money out of the bank and had the envelope of money with her drivers license in it tucked under her seat, NOT in the wallet.  The bad news is there were sereral pieces of important stuff - a few credit cards, insurance card, Social Security card, etc.

I called the Credit card company and closed that account.  We then went to the police station to give a report.  We didn't want the police to come to the house, because she didn't want Mother and Daddy to know what happened!

SO, while all this was going on, I get a phone call from my father-in-law.  The friend from church brought dinner and he was VERY unhappy with it!  He told me what was there, grumbling the whole time.  Last night someone from the church brought all the leftovers from a funeral over - but not much of that appeals to them, either.  So, my next task is to go clean out the food they will not eat, clean up the dishes, and I don't know what else.

Oh yeah - the pizza!  Sweet Noah managed to finish the pizza all by himself!  I had the crust started and rising, he baked them, made the pizza (cut the onions and everything!) and baked them the rest of the way.  I'm SO proud of him!

So, this is just ONE DAY of my crazy life.  I'm tired and have a few things ahead.  Going back to the in-laws, making kombucha (that, too, will be another blog), making laundry soap, and finish laundry.  There's more, but it will have to wait for tomorrow.
